News that doesn't surprise many.
After a grand announcement at the end of Rise of the Beasts, the crossover project between the transformers and G.I. Joe has not progressed at Paramount.
The commitment of a screenwriter in early 2024 and the rumors surrounding a casting of Chris Hemsworth to play Duke were the only concrete information about this film, which has since sunk into a true production hell.
Paramount seems to favor individual projects for each of the two franchises, as we learn from the specialized site Deadline in an article published this Thursday, October 1st. G.I. Joe has a written film ready to go into production, and Transformers has found a new screenwriter in Jason Fuchs. Add to that the rumors of Michael Bay's return, and there's no doubt that the Autobots and Decepticons will be back very soon on our cinema screens!
Although still tempting for Hasbro and Paramount, the very idea of a G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover did not seem to excite the crowds, including fans, many of whom were skeptical about the project's very interest. History has proven them right.
As Paramount is about to conclude its merger with Warner Bros shortly, the various projects should be able to progress more smoothly.
