Hasbro remains the masters in the field of mainstream transforming robots, and today is yet another proof of that.
Mattel has revealed its second Transformers from the "Mattel Creations" line. As a reminder, this is a line in collaboration with Hasbro, which allows its long-time competitor to exploit certain Transformers characters. In exchange, Hasbro also markets Hot Wheels X Transformers crossovers.
Optimus Prime was the first to debut last year, and now Bumblebee joins him. Designed and imagined by Mattel, they handled the engineering. And...it shows. Bumblebee appears here with a disproportionate torso, with no way to modify it. The entire top of the beetle is fixed here, giving it what some fans are already calling a "beer belly". The vehicle mode, however, is very nice, and would fit perfectly within a collection of cars in a 1:64 scale.

Hot Wheels is back with a third 1/64 scale Transformers collaboration that hits the mark: a Bumblebee inspired by the G1 version, reimagined with Hot Wheels' unmistakable touch. This exceptional scout and spy operates incognito as a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, featuring a weathered paint job and “Real Riders” wheels. When it's time for action, it transforms into a robot with 13 points of articulation. Missing out on such a model would be truly frustrating!
This Bumblebee is priced at $65 in the United States.
